Who We Are
We are a community of academics, researchers, and practitioners united by a shared conviction: that systems thinking offers a powerful lens for understanding and shaping our complex world. Our membership spans an extraordinary breadth of disciplines—from the biosciences and social sciences to engineering and the arts—reflecting our belief that the most pressing challenges of our time demand interdisciplinary collaboration.
Whether we’re exploring sustainable tourism, reimagining agricultural practices, strengthening legal frameworks, or enriching cultural life, we bring a systems perspective that seeks lasting solutions rather than temporary fixes. We believe that seeing the interconnections between things—understanding how parts relate to wholes—is essential for navigating the complexities of contemporary life.
What Drives Us
At the heart of our work lies a commitment to education that transforms how people see the world. In our lectures and seminars, we don’t simply teach systems thinking as a technique; we invite students and participants to step back and perceive the bigger picture. We encourage critical thinking that balances immediate concerns with long-term vision, grounded in methodologies rigorous enough to withstand the most demanding scientific scrutiny.
Looking ahead, we’re developing courses in systems dynamics, modelling, and simulation for fields where these approaches remain largely unknown—yet where they will prove indispensable. We’re building a freely accessible library of systems research, creating online spaces where experts can illuminate fundamental principles for curious minds, and fostering connections among doctoral students and others eager to exchange ideas and collaborate.
We host public lectures in both Slovenian and English, organise panel discussions, and create opportunities that inspire younger generations to discover the transformative potential of systems thinking. Our reach extends well beyond Slovenia; we actively engage with the global systems community.
