Systems Research
Exploring the interconnectedness of systems, theory and practice.
System Thinking has always been a promise of wholeness and agency. However, there are different approaches to systems sciences, systems research and systems practice. They are all represented in the IFSR, from systems engineering via system dynamics to critical systems thinking to name but a few. The IFSR seeks to co-create and co-facilitate for the cyber-systemic community the conditions to grow a shared understanding of systems research informing and forming further progress in theory and practice. Annually the IFSR’s executive committee reflects the questions and advances in their “agenda for the cybersystemic community”. The current focus is the polycrisis and the global problematique as well as rethinking agency.
Collaboration-Projects
The IFSR fosters all kind of collaboration between its members and their partner. We simply call these interorganisational initiatives and collaboration projects simply working groups. From global collaboration to next-generation recognition – explore current IFSR initiatives and working groups.
Systems Education
Together with the Club of Rome, the IFSR will, together with its members, explore and map the offers and providers of systems education worldwide. This facilitates the acknowledgement of talent and promotes an intergenerational contract, co-creating the conditions for further advancements in systems sciences and systems practice.
SRBS Journal
The IFSR Journal of Systems Research was established in 1984 but was merged with the International Society for the Systems Sciences’s Journal of Behavioral Science in 1997, forming the Journal of Systems Research and Behavioral Science. The Journal aims to stimulate disciplined inquiry and provides transdisciplinary focus for the exchange of ideas and knowledge, relating to the analysis, design, development, and management of systems and programs. The journal (ISSN 1092-7026), is edited by Amanda Gregory and is published six times a year.
IFSR International Series in Systems Science and Systems Engineering
This IFSR Book Series provides a publication avenue for high quality systems literature. In collaboration with Springer, since 1991 30 book titles ranging from “Facets of Systems Science” (Klir, 1991) to “Elements and Relations: Aspects of a Scientific Metaphysics” (Zwick, 2023) were published.
