The Cybernetics Society is a learned society that promotes and offers education and research opportunities in the rich field of cybernetics. Cybernetics is distinctively related to all fields of design and offers a distinctive scientific locus deriving from the active (non-deterministic) behaviour of observers as observers responding to and navigating within their own contexts towards their own goals. Its insights inform design and change practices, ecology, healing, technology and AI, and influence autopoiesis, perceptual control theory, management cybernetics and more.
The Cybernetics Society promotes science and the development of its members. We see cybernetics as humane and ethical, adding back the qualitative field to science and providing competencies relevant to resolving local and world issues of the 21st century. We offer MCybS and FCybS recognition. Because cybernetics is transdisciplinary and engages with all other sciences and many practices, we aim to further the rich paradigm shifts of last century in many fields.
We offer regular presentations and events, are launching a new Journal, = co-sponsor = Kybernetes, collaborate with the ASC, offer fundamental education, share knowledge, enable special interest groups, hold conferences, allow members to post articles, recognise cybernetic ability and award honours as entitled by our special authority. We aim to develop worldwide associations and local chapters. We appreciate scientific rigour and social bonhomie.
