Systems Engineering Society of China (SESC)

Who are we?

The Systems Engineering Society of China (SESC), a national first-level society, an independent legal person, and a member of the China Association for Science and Technology. In 1979, Qian Xuesen, Song Jian, Guan Zhaozhi, Xu Guozhi and other 21 experts and scholars jointly proposed and prepared it. It was formally established in Beijing on November 18, 1980. Qian Xuesen, a scientist in the field of natural sciences, and Xue Muqiao, an economist in the field of social sciences, serve as honorary chairmen. Guan Zhaozhi, chairman of the first council, Xu Guozhi, chairman of the second and third councils, Gu Jifa, chairman of the fourth and fifth councils, Chen Guangya, chairman of the sixth and seventh councils, Wang Shouyang, tenth Yang Xiaoguang, the chairman of the Board of Directors.

Initiatives we drive:

There are currently 27 professional committees: Military System Engineering Professional Committee, System Theory Professional Committee, Social Economic System Engineering Professional Committee, Fuzzy Mathematics and Fuzzy System Professional Committee, Agricultural System Engineering Professional Committee, Education System Engineering Professional Committee, Information System Engineering Professional Committee , Professional Committee of Science and Technology System Engineering, Professional Committee of Transportation System Engineering, Professional Committee of Process System Engineering, Professional Committee of Decision Science, Professional Committee of Man-Machine-Environment System Engineering, Professional Committee of Forestry System Engineering, Professional Committee of Grassland System Engineering, System Power Professional Committee of Science, Medical and Health System Engineering, Financial System Engineering, Ship and Marine System Engineering, Energy and Resource System Engineering, Service System Engineering, Logistics System Engineering, Water Conservancy System Engineering and Emergency Management System Engineering Professional Committee, Port and Shipping Economic System Engineering Professional Committee, Sustainable Operation and Management System Branch, System Reliability Engineering Professional Committee, Intelligent Manufacturing System Engineering Professional Committee, Ecological Environment System Engineering Professional Committee, Data Science and Knowledge System Professional Committee.

There are 6 working committees: Academic Working Committee, International Academic Exchange Working Committee, Education and Popularization Working Committee, Editing and Publishing Working Committee, Youth Working Committee, and Application Consulting Working Committee.

The main business and brand characteristic activities of China Society of Systems Engineering are:

—Organize academic exchanges in this discipline and related disciplines, discuss and research important academic topics, and improve the discipline level of systems engineering; the academic annual meeting of the Chinese Society of Systems Engineering, the English name is The Chinese Congress of Systems Science and Systems Engineering, abbreviated as CCSSSE .

—In 1994, he began to participate in the International Federation of Systems Research (IFSR), and became a group member of the International Federation of Systems Research.

—Society has 5 journals as the first organizer: “Systems Engineering Theory and Practice”, “Journal of Systems Engineering”, “Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering (English Version)”, “Transportation System Engineering and Information” , “Journal of Systems Science and Information” (“Journal of Systems Science and Information”). — Learn to carry out science and technology award activities. The specific awards under the system science and system engineering science and technology awards include: “Lifetime Achievement Award”, “Theory Award”, “Application Award” and “Youth Science and Technology Award”, “Excellent Doctorate Award” Dissertation Award”.

The International Federation for Systems Research (IFSR) is the peak body of the systems community. It is a virtual platform that convenes and facilitates the rich academic tradition not only but primarily of system sciences, cybernetics and complexity theory as a basis and the many vivid practices and applications set out to meet the challenges of the Anthropocene in the 21st century. – Be part of the whole!

    Systems Change starts here

Meeting the complexity of the 21st century and the challenges of the Anthropocene makes system thinking inevitable.

Systems Sciences and cybernetics comprise a holistic and integrated paradigm that overcomes the thinking which created the global challenges we are facing today. It allows for a different perception of the dynamics of the world and provides smarter and truly sustainable solutions.
When the IFSR was founded 1981 it aspired to unite the world of systems sciences to meet the challenges of the 20th century, to learn from the catastrophise of the world wars, the conflicts of the cold war, and preparing to meet the daunting ecological threats being addressed in the report to the Club of Rome.

Systems Sciences and cybernetics have always collaborated as a community spearheading new thinking, advancing not only sciences and theory but also technology and practice.
Today the IFSR reaches far beyond pure academic institutions; it brings together all people who understood that new solutions need new thinking for a thrivable world.
